After forty years as a naturalist and conservationist, Ken Morrison has compiled in Mountain Lake Almanac his observations on environmental concerns and wildlife, often relating to the three states where he has spent most of his time: Florida, North Carolina, and Maine.

Just as he planned, the entries in the Almanac have no plan except as they relate to the day of the month on which they were written (over many years).  Also, the entries are placed into sections named for the states in which he has spent most of his time.  A final section, "Interrelations," contains entries that evidence the many connections among the environmental concerns of these three regions - indeed of any of the earth's regions, because the Almanac has a natural spirit that is universal in scope.
